I was on an elevator last night, and a man was telling a woman how colorful she looked. And she said she was a "bright autumn". Then she asked the guy is he had had his colors done?
Question: Isn't having your "colors" done a 1980's thing? Do people still do that?

I thought this was a thread about Steel Magnolias!

I don't know if it still applicable for everyone. But, I do know that the colors in the 'Winter' chart do suit me, while other 'seasons' do not.
Yes, I'm a 'Winter.' Dramatic, don't you think?

Yeah, Carole Jackson, et al were an 80's phenom. I had my colors done in the 80s and even now, if I stick to the "winter" colors, I look best. I think once you know what you look good in, you always keep it in mind.
I think I need to get my colors done...I'd die if pinkwas not one of my colors!!!
I have no idea what the hell "having your colors done" means...

Pinky - There are different shades and tones of pink. There's a pink for every 'season'.
Oh, geez, I'm sounding like a friggin Color Me Beautiful consultant. What's next - Mary Kay?

Bluemoon, I'm a winter too!!! Yay!! Not that I have any idea what colors to wear - I just know I'm a winter.

Color Me Beautiful - it was a color and wardrobe consulting group in the 80s. Very popular. They looked at your hair color and skin tone and told you what season you were: spring, summer, etc. Each season had a palette of colors that would look best on them - as well as colors that would wash you out or make your skin tone look bad.
LF, let me save you the $100.00 consulting fee - you are a spring! And a beautiful one at that!
The only reason I know what this means is because of "Roger and Me"- Michael Moore getting his colors done was hilarious. I think he was an Autumn.

Rath - I figured you were, just from your ethnic background. Wouldn't you say LF is a spring (blonde hair, fair skin)?
MFL - do you have red/auburn hair? I spent a year with lots and lots of auburn highlights and told myself I could wear brown and gold, etc. No way. The olive green stuff is still in the closet.
I only know I'm a winter. I can't assess anyone else, Bluemoon, but you seem to be an expert so I'll trust you.
What colors should I be wearing??

Oh crap, Rath there are @ 40 of them! lol
Let me think - deep rich colors - navy blue, burgundy, black, teal, forest green, deep purple, anything with a blue tone to it.
Also "clear, icy colors" - icy, pale pinks, blues and greens
Avoid: anything with an orange or yellow tone (like no fire engine red - use a red with a blue tone; bluish greens instead of lime green)
Ok, step right up and get your horoscope as a bonus.....
Bluemoon-I have dark brown hair, almost black. I wear a lot of olive green and I'm told it's a nice color for me.
But how did you figure out I was a spring? Did I miss something? Is the only reason I am not getting this b/c I havent slept in 3 days and am a blonde?
Is this for makeup... or clothing in general...

Being blonde has nothing to do with it - the 3 days without sleep? That explains a lot! Finals???
The picture of you that you has as your avatar told me you were a spring. Blonde with plae skin. Fun colors (my sister is a spring). Pinks, corals, greens, bright blues, etc. When you get some sleep, try to find an ols copy of "Color Me Beautiful". It's kinda fun.
I guess you are right, considering today I am wearing a pink and white stripe collared shirt, and an argyle vest that is comprised of mostly pinks and purples....I see now.
Yes, I just finished finals, but the lack of sleep has nothing to do with that. I think I am getting sick or something.
Can Springs wear leather pants? I really want a pair...

DayDreamer - the original book had clothing color and styles (a real hoot, looking back at the 80s styles now), but also had make up color guidelines. Carole Jackson - the founder - actually produced her own make up line for a while based on the seasonal color schemes. I have to hand it to her - her book said my eyes would look best with a dark, pine green eyeliner and it has made all the difference. On the other hand, if I use brown eye make up people tell me I look really tired. I'm sticking to the green!
Welcome to the board, by the way.
LOLOL.....all I kept thinking is, who's dying their hair now?

"all I kept thinking is, who's dying their hair now?"
Answer: everybody, it seems. It's kind of fun to do.
Queen Vicky looks lovely today, Elphaba.
Should I be wearing pine green eyeliner? Will the ladies swoon?

The ladies will love you no matter what you wear - or if you wear nothing at all! You are simply lovable. Green eyeliner is for those of us who need to try harder.
:looks around empty room::
Ok, *I* need to try harder.
