Don't ya just love her?
Not as much as your signature!
Love Top Hat!
Now Playing!
Broderick Crawford's mama!
Love her... and speaking of Fred & Ginger...
Love Helen as Ginger's best pal in Swing Time!
And I love "The Piccolino". :)
Wow, I just caught the name Betty Furness on the DVD box of SWING TIME. I remember her from LIVE AT 5 in NYC.
Don't forget she started on Broadway!
Marilyn Miller, Clifton Webb and Helen Broderick

Just popped in SWING TIME.
my favorite dance in Swing Time is when they're at the dance school in the beginning with the New York Skyline in the backround. Pure Magic.
And of course the last big dance number!
It's happening right now. :)
Thanks Glebb!

Also the basis for the sucky Broasdway flop NEVER GONNA DANCE. Even the presence of Karen Ziemba in the Helen Broderick role could not save it.
It deserved to win both Tonys for which it was nominated - Best Choreography and Best Featured Actress.
But, a flop that runs only a couple of months and closes 4 months before the Tonys has no chance of winning anything.
Yes. Karen was magnificant.
also the dance on the unfinished Empire State building was wonderful...
it was SUCH a feel good show, I loved it!
it was the first time I used "Seasons of Savings"
I also managed to see Caroline or change and Anna in the Tropics before both closed
I applaud the team for Never Gonna Dance for having the balls to even attempt to re-create the magic of Astaire and Rogers!
Broderick and Horton played off each other so well. I particulary loved the whole..."I walked in and said hello, and she smacked me" scene which leads into the whle Eric Blore and raw steak scene.
Don't get me started on the merits of actors like Blore, Franklin Pangborn, Charles Butterworth, Alice brady, et al.
Love her all over again!

Helen Broderick is Broderick Crawford's mother?
He held the door open for me years ago when I walked into a Post Office. I wanted to say, 10-4, LOL, but I could only manage a "thank you."
SWING TIME right now on TCM!
They were all great!
