I don't have the strength to read the whole thing. Can't you just copy and paste what she mentions about it?

"Tim is unbelievably disciplined about employing me only if I am absolutely right. For Sweeney Todd, it was like I had to be more right than anyone else; it was ‘in spite of’, instead of ‘because of’, being his girlfriend. I know a lot of actresses will say it’s because I was sleeping with him, but it’s not true. I had to audition for Stephen Sondheim, for God’s sake! When it’s all over, I’ll tell the whole saga of how I got the part. It was like being in How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? – so painful and so acute that Tim said, ‘We cannot watch this programme. We are actually living it, and it is hideous.’"

"Sweeney Todd, his first musical, has been a high-pressure adventure for Burton, spiced with the drama of the production being halted during the illness of Depp’s daughter, now thankfully recovered. For its leading lady, the breakthrough has been learning to sing. “One audition, I sung for four hours, and Tim said, ‘No, no, that’s enough. Will you stop?’ I’ve had nine months of singing daily. Now I’ve got this skill, this instrument, and it makes me feel finally like a proper actor. I feel more self-respect.”

Wow, NathanLaneStalker, I guess it's good to have people at your Beck and Call.

^ True. I mean, who wants to read that whole thing if they ain't even a fan of hers in the first place?

I have only seen her in MAYBE two movies, and I just didn't want to read all of that to read about the new Sweeney movie.

I'm glad that she feels that she has grown as a performer by doing this film.

Now, here's hoping that she doesn't suck at it.

At least she confirms that she had to audition for Sondheim.

"You should try Dynamic Reading (or maybe you should just use Ctrl+F and search)."

I never knew that trick....

SHOULDN'T she have to audition for Sondheim? Well, at least the stakes were high for her, and she feels she rose to them. I cannot disagree with her being cast opposite Depp; she seems a good match for a younger Sweeney. I have to assume that her singing will be at least Madonna-as-Evita good enough, a one-time acceptable take in a studio. And since B-Carter is a good if quirky actor, unlike Madonna, to continue that comparison, who will crawl easily into the milieu (as an American might not), we should be cautiously optimistic, no? I can easily see her as a desperate, immoral low-life -- and I mean that as a high compliment.

I've always been kind of indifferent to Sweeney so HBC's presence in the film actually makes me want to see it more. I think she could be great in the part.
