I need a new alarm clock. I don't need a lot of gadgets, but I do need an alarm that won't shoot me through the roof when it wakes me up. Any suggestions?
In my opinion, you can not go wrong with a Big Ben. Many styles.I think this is one that is very classy.

The one I used to have played a cd as an alarm which was fine because I always played Nancy Lamott. However, now that I listen to Nancy's cd it freaks me out because I associate it with having to get up, not the soothing music of Nancy Lamott.
I always hated Big Bens because I hated the noise they made. My mom bought me one when I was in high school or middle school and I ended up breaking it. I hated the noise so much I woke up mad everyday.
what about one of those ones that you put your ipod on and you can set the song you wake up to? ihome makes them i think
I love my iHome. I never use it for an alarm, though. I use my phone. I made a "Good Morning Starshine..." ringtone and used it as my alarm for a long time. Now it's just a simple tune.
Though I bought it for a travel clock, this is the only alarm clock I use now.

I have a Timex travel alarm. It works on a single AA battery and has performed faithfully for at least five years. Of course, I take it when I travel but it is also reliable on those mornings when we've had power failures out here on Long Island.
