Okay, I have a School Project and I need some help and I thought that this would be the perfect place to go to because it's about NY and Theatre.
Basically, it's a project where you compile information about a place that you might interest you to move to one day. It's a required class for Theatre Majors at my school and it's worth 20% of my grade (which is a lot because we really didn't do anything in this class!).
Here are the categories that I need help in:
1) Journals and Trade Magazines- So any good magazines about Broadway theatre and NY would be good.
2) Websites- I need 5-10 "Professional/Career" websites. I've already listed our 'one and only' BWW.
3) Organization Contacts- We have to include their website address and email.
4) Workshops and Festivals- I need to include 5-10 workshops or festivals that I could attend. These don't have to be exclusive to theatre and can be anywhere.
5) Funding Sources/Grants/Scholarships- I need list several options. So far I have the National Endowment for the Arts
6) Newspaper Reviews/Articles about Theatre- This part seems kinda easy. But if anyone know of any good articles about Theatre in NY, that would be good.
Any information is greatly appreicated!!!!!!

Many of the magazines and publications about Broadway are now defunct. Even SHOE PEOPLE has bitten the dust.

You also need to get the following papers/magazines:
1. Backstage
2. The New York Times
3. Time Out NY
4. New York Magazine
5. Variety/ Daily Gotham edition.
Have fun with it. New York is a great place to visit and a greater place to live.
You should also try and get the visitor magazines:

You might want to call a Hotel and interview a Concierge. They know all about NYC. I love the Concierge at The St Regis, The Marriott Marquis are very nice. Good, luck. You can also contact NYC and Companies Visitor Center for valuable info.
