For my burfday yesterday, I just got an Amazon gift certificate for 25 bucks -- and have absolutely no idea what I should buy. I think I'd like a book on Broadway -- but don't know what's new, recent, and good. Any recs from you boys?

My brother always sends me an Amazon certificate for my birthday and I feel like a kid in a candy shop. It usually takes me days to figure out what to get. This year I purchased the PBS Broadway CD.
amazon is my best friend. we put as many purchases as possible on our AMAZON VISA card, so we can earn gift certificates
Not Since Carrie! Buy that book!
I will as soon as I have money!
A friend of mine gave me the book, Broadway Musicals: The 101 Greatest Shows of All Time. While I do not agree with all of their selections, the book is fantastic. It is loaded with rarely seen color and black and white photos. A gorgeous book filled with great photos and fascinating tidbits. That and Not Since Carrie are my two favorite books on musicals.
Broadway Musicals: The 101 Greatest Shows of All Time
What about Ethan Mordden's books on the Broadway musical? There's one per decade from the 20's to the 70's I think and then one covering up to present day.
I second the recomendation for Making It on Broadway: Actors' Tales of Climbing to the Top by David Wienir, Jodie Langel
its an AWESOME book
Rlbgbc, the "Broadway Musicals: 101 Greatest Shows" book Mister Matt suggested is definitely worth getting! I bought a copy as a Christmas present to myself, and it was by far the best gift I received. The list is pretty subjective; I was really suprised at some of the musicals left out, but thrilled at some of the less obvious choices ("Little Me," "Spider Woman"). TONS of great photos (the gorgeous color pics of Gwen Verdon in "Sweet Charity" are what sold me on the book in the store, but any number of the photos justify buying it).

cturtle - I checked into the Amazon Visa thang - you gotta spend $800 or more in order to get a $25 gift certificate. And the "points" are lost every two years or something like that.
NOT worth it.
