Hello everyone im new to the website and think its fab, now seeing as all you theater goers out there know your stuff I was wondering if you could help me I live in the uk and have a bunch of auditions coming up for my first audition I have to sing 16 bars of a musical theatre song and im really finding it hard to find 16 bars of the end, middle or beg, of any musical theater song. So seeing as alot of you have done all this before and are going through it I would really appreciate any help thank you love
tom.
There's a great book called "The 16 Bar Audition" and it's available in all voice parts. It has a good selection of 16 bar selections from a big variety of shows. Try that book first.
The Sixteen Bars Audition Book is the BEST. Highly Recommended.
I just got it off of amazon, it's AMAZING!
You don't always have to keep it 16 bars. Say the line you are singing doesnt end until 18 bars, it's alright. Or say it's only 14 bars. As long as it shows off your voice and doesnt stray too much from the 16 bar rule. At least that's been my experience. If they don't like it more than 16... the worst they can do is cut you off right?
