Help! Any comments on Santa Fe.

Ok, for a couple of weeks my partner and I have been battling it out as to where we should go from July 3-July7.......and I'm about ready to give in to Santa Fe just to stop the madness.
Santa Fe Opera is doing Turandot while we're there, so that would be nice, but is there really enough to do there....I mean I can only take SO much of Georgia O'Keefe.......
If you've been, give me your opinion.
The other choices still on the table are Las Vegas, Monterey, Boston....and I know about those, so please......just comments about Santa Fe. Thanks in advance

i went years ago and enjoyed it very much. I can't remember to much though. Sorry.

was JUST talking about this with some friends....I have never been out for the Opera, but my partner has and we have next year penciled in! GO...it's a wonderful time!

Summer high desert thunderstorms off in the distance are sepctacular! My better half still talks of one night at the start of the "The Queen of the Night" Aria, the real desert and mountains were the true backdrop and a huge storm started in off in the distance -- staging and special effects could never top it!

thanks KMF, we did decide on Santa Fe last night, booked the flight car, and a nicer hotel right near the Palaza,,,,and I'm getting tix for Turandot online shortly.......

Elph - very similar in feel (as far as the people and overall atmosphere) to Sedona, AZ, if you've ever been there. There are some great restaurants and shopping, of the 'tending toward high-end' variety.

I love Santa Fe, I go at least once a year. And yes, there is so much to do. Between the incredible scenery, the wonderful city itself, the museums, the pueblos. Not to be missed is 10,000 waves, an incrdible Japanese style health spa. But if you go there , book early. It is very popular. They have a web site, check them out.

I worked for two seasons at the opera, you will love it.

we were in Sedona the year before last...was a bit crowded, but we liked it.......liked jerome better. We figured we'd drive up to taos for a day, and also see what else is around.
Steve has a woman friend he went to high school with in Santa Fe, as well as another female friend...so we'll know people.
I don't have many expectations, other than the opera and cool nights, since it's high desert
