Help! Do you know this musical?

Here's what we know:

Mid to Late 80s/Early 90s
Pre-Broadway workshop production, never made it to Broadway
French maid is one of the characters
Based on a "bad movie"
One of the actresses was a young Donna Devlin or someone with a similar name.

Any ideas what it might be?? Musical theater dorks UNITE!

Just some advice, you might want to take this over to the main board.

My initial thought was Clue, though there are a few things off about that. It premiered in 1997, so not really 80s/early 90s. It never made it to Broadway, but it was Off-Broadway...not sure about the workshop aspect. Mrs. White is a maid, though French might be stretching it. There is a movie (which is awesome, but WAS made in 1985, so that fits), and Denny Dillon (which sounds quite a bit like Donna Devlin) originated the role of the detective.

Clue was literally the first thing that came to mind, for the reasons justagirl2 mentioned, but I can't be of much more help. Good luck!
