Help! Musical Theatre Research for Degree

I'm currently doing my degree in Musical theater and was hoping to find some information on:

WHAT TECHNIQUES AND PRINCIPLES THAT DEFINE THE STAGE MUSICAL SHOULD BE APPLIED TO THE MOVIE MUSICAL TO SUPPORT AND AUGMENT THE PRODUCTION PROCESS?

If you know about any material/book titles/dvd titles that can help me with my research please send them my way. Also, if you have any information regarding this topic I'll be forever grateful if you could share it with me.
