And now it's going to be reconstructed in, of all places, Las Vegas--the "Hard Punk Rock Cafe"?

There's bonus visuals for theatre geeks at the Times link I first posted.

There's a sidebar with reviews of bands at CBGB, and there viewable as PDF files. Which means, for instance, you can read the Talking Heads review AND look at some vintage theatre ads on the other side of the page.

Those ads ARE cool!

In addition to the B-52's, which I was DRAGGED to by this guy who lived in my building (down the block from CBGB's on 3rd Street between 1st and 2nd--the Hell's Angels block), there are ads for A Life in the Theatre with Jose Ferrer (which I saw for the 2nd time because I had loved it som much with Ellis Rabb), Harvey Fierstein's International Stud before it become the first act of Torch Song Trilogy (the Stud had been my backroom home-away-from-home since I snuck down there as a high-school student), and an Ella Fitzgerald concert at Avery Fisher Hall--my 6th time seeing her live.

Thanks for the memories...the B-52's and Ella.
