#1High Notes- What to use to make sure I can continue to hit them?

I know this has probably been asked many times but I was wondering what to drink/use/or eat to help make sure my voice stays healthy and able to hit high notes night after night. I have no problem hitting them right now but I am worried once tech week and our shows start I may start to lose my ability. I am playing Travis in Footloose and I am above the staff during many songs singing high A and B. I can usually sing up to a C no problem but like I said, I'm starting to worry about cracking and losing my voice.

Thanks!

I use Throat Coat Tea when that happens to me and vocal rest helps but the Tea does wonders. My friends use Slippery Elm.

As long as you're singing correctly it shouldn't be a problem. If you support your voice and stay out of your throat like the the people on Broadway you can do eight shows a week just like them.
Sometimes just to soothe my throat I drink really hot water with honey, pure lemon juice and sugar mixed in. Its kind of disgustingly sweet but it feels nice going down, it's probably all in my head but I feel like it does something.

I have never had a teacher but the vocal director claims I am doing everything right and not using my throat at all. Thanks for the suggestions! I wish I could do something to help our actor playing Chuck. He is having more than a few problems.

A quart of water before bed, although it might make you have to pee in the middle of the night, will keep your voice better hydrated and healthier than any product you can buy.

Do you have a humidifier or the means to go buy a small cheap one for your room?

Do you drink close to a gallon of water, if not over, a day?

Do you make sure to regularly rest your voice (i.e. not talking) after every performance?

Do you carry things like Ricola (sp?) or Orbit gum for a quick fix during performance breaks?

Are you making sure to breathe correctly during the performance and during other parts of your day, exercising for example?

Are you making it a point to avoid things such as whispering and screaming/yelling throughout your day?

These are all things you can do that will help :) Other than that eat healthy, take your vitamins, watch Barney and all that good ****e.

HSM- it looks like someone took a shit on Footloose.
