Just found out what my medical procedure last week ( 30 minute microwave of my big prostate)cost. My Dr billed my wife's insurance carrier $ 6 k & got $ 2,100. This is not even including anastesia . $ 6 K for 30 minutes work. Unbelievable

Some of it is due to high malpractice insurance rates & the rest is just plain greed

I think insurance premiums have been rising much more quickly than the costs of malpractice settlements or actual medical costs. Something smells fishy there, but I'm not that well-informed on the topic. Anyone know more?

In a for profit facility they charge what they can get ( factoring in operating costs & freq using profitable procedures to subsidize less profitable ones )so they can still make $$$ to pay out dividend get more investors etc etc.
