Hilary Duff- "author"?

So Hilary Duff has signed on with Simon and Schuster to "author" books for young readers. Isn't this the girl who uses the word "like" every other word. Has she ever taken classes on writing? I don't think she's a good actress or singer so I can't imagine her being a good writer. Of course, it will probably be like her designs- someone else will do the work and she will put her name on it. Geez!

She might be gifted at writing. I mean Lauren Conrad is a pretty good author in my opinion (not War & Peace material, but still), so Duff might surprise us.
