It's official! They're finally a team!
Aww, go her! It'd be such a slap in the face if she didn't.
I've never been a big Hillary Clinton fan, but I'm glad that something good has come of this election for her.
YEAH!!!!!
I'm really happy! I wasn't that worried about it, on the news yesterday they said it would be close to unanimous probably. Was it?
I've been out of the house all day, and now iCarly is on Nick.
Oh, that's great. I'm very happy she's gotten a position in the administration.
It was 94-2.
And I have to say I was impressed with Senator McCain's remarks on the Senate floor today.
Thanks, SticktoPriest! So it was pretty close to unanimous.
What did McCain say?
First Lady of the US...Senator of New York and now Secretary of State...Wow!!!
"What did McCain say?"
"Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., urged his Republican colleagues earlier in the day to drop their objections.
"I pay attention to the president's approval ratings. Very high," McCain said. "But more importantly, I think the message that the American people are sending us now is they want us to work together and get to work. I think we ought to let Senator Clinton, who obviously is qualified, and obviously will serve, to get to work immediately."
Senate confirms Clinton as secretary of state
I congratulate her.
She is qualified and deserving.
I applaud Senator McCain, and all of his colleagues for giving this the serious thought and consideration that a confirmation deserves.
The steps we are taking, TOGETHER, as a country, feel good.

I'm so glad to hear this. And I love that she's wearing all blue and that President Obama (How great is that to say?) is sporting a blue tie in this picture.
I agree Mauri! I noticed the blue too!
Thanks Pab....I do congratulate him for those remarks. They are spot on.
I feel more confident about the state of our union than I have in a long time.
Did 4 Senators abstain, or were they absent?
I assume Clinton herself had to abstain (would she even get a vote?).
The blue was back from their first campaign appearance together after Obama won the nomination.
At least one senator is not confirmed yet--Senator Al Franken--and presumably she did not vote for herself. I don't think Teddy Kennedy was there to vote, so that leaves one mystery, right?

I figured it had to be something "Democratic," PJ.
PalJoey, you are correct. The four missing votes are Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy, who did not vote; the vacant Minnesota seat soon to be held by Al Franken, and the vacant Colorado seat from Ken Salazar resigning to become Secretary of the Interior.
Thanks, PJ and mikem! That all makes sense, then. I forgot about the Minnesota seat and it didn't register with me that obviously Kennedy wouldn't have been present for the vote today.
