Obviously Democrats are too cheap to hire translators. Hillary meant to give the Russians a red button that said "Reset". Instead she gave them a red button that said "Overcharge".

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

re: Hillary's Russian

Post-Soviet, Russian friends.

The spirit of the meeting was right. Bush was still operating under cold-war mentality. Russia is a very rich country, culturally and in terms of natural resources. America and Russia together could create a lot of positive changes in the world, if they'll get their acts together. The Soviet era is over. That was the last century.

I actually disagree a bit on that count, krissysim. Bush looked deep into Putin's eyes (no, really) and thought he saw a good guy. Meanwhile Putin is...Putin, a dictator in all but name. If any one of those two was still in the Cold War mindset, it was definitely the latter.

"The Soviet era is over. That was the last century."

Well whatever era you want to call this, this century they are building weapons.

I see your point Plum, Putin had his hackles up because he saw Nato taking over former satellite nations and former nations of the Soyuz Soviet Socialist Republics (CCCP in Cyrillic). He is no doubt keenly aware that America and the World Bank essentially bankrolled Russia after the collapse of the USSR, making their economic collapse much less severe. (An economic collapse that makes America's current recession look minor, BTW, I've seen both first-hand.) I do not care for Putin, nor the current Russian administration, but I'm not sure if I agree with you about Bush. He could have done a lot more with the right approach. He knew essentially nothing about Russian culture and attitudes.

My point was that with a new Post-Soviet generation beginning to reach adulthood in Russia, there is a newer way of thinking about things in Russia. It will be a while before that generation gains political power, but the undercurrents are there. It is important for the current political leaders in America to recognize that. It's not all about Putin.

America still builds weapons, too gothampc.
