the movie opens today...anyone excited?
JUST GOT HOME FROM THE MOVIE......FANTASTIC
the acting was great, it was like the books. And best of all.....it starts with a song, and the first thing I thought is.....OMG, if this succeeds, they'll make it a musical. It would be SO easy to do.......LOVED IT

Posted: 4/29/05 at 2:55pmYeah, I'm not going to read anything else before I see it (the two reviews I've seen have been really mixed). I'm too excited about the movie to let anything ruin it!

Posted: 4/29/05 at 2:57pmI love the books and am looking forward to the moviw, but I am really afraid it wont translate well. So much of the book is dependent on detail and logical anomolous arguements, the movie looks a little special effects centric. I mean, there is not that much that actually "happens" in H2G2, its mainly lots of great description of how and why things "are"

Posted: 4/29/05 at 2:59pmI loved the book when I read it...but, to be honest, the trailors haven't done anything for me. What made the book so great was the narrative. I think I'll be waiting this one out. Hell, I haven't even seen Sin City yet.

Justice
You ARE Sin City.

Posted: 4/29/05 at 3:13pmI agree Smartpenguin, but the fact that Douglas Adams was involved so heavily before he died has allayed some of my concerns (isn’t he credited with the screenplay?). And Sam Rockwell as Zaphod is genius casting.
#8re: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Posted: 4/29/05 at 3:15pmI hope those things work out. I love Sam Rockwell as Zaphod. I'll have to actually see it before my concerns are gone though. I am still very much looking forward to it.

If they will make every book into a film, I will see it. I felt that way about the Lord of the Rings (oh, gee, I'm not a fan boy! NOPE!) and I feel that way about Adams, reviews be damned.

Posted: 4/29/05 at 3:27pmI will see every film of every book too, no matter how I feel about this one. Adams was fantastic!

I'm seeing it tomorrow! I can't wait.
The only review I've read so far only had one thing to say, "If you don't get the humor, it's British." >.> Must stop reading hometown newspaper.
And yes. Rockwell IS Zaphod.

Two words why I will see this movie sometime, hopefully over the weekend:
Sam Rockwell

Posted: 4/29/05 at 6:43pmUnfortunately I doubt he'll recreate his nude scene from Lawn Dogs in it.

Posted: 4/29/05 at 6:55pmI love the books! I'm hoping the movie is just as ridiculous as them, and doesn't take itself to seriously with the special effects and all. Although I heard Zaphod doesn't have two heads and three arms in the movie - is that true? I'm going to be very upset if it is.

Posted: 4/29/05 at 7:15pmI just started reading the books last week. I refuse to see it until I finish. I remember wanting to read them like, five years ago, but never had the books in my possession until I bought "The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." Mwaha.

Alan Rickman is the voice of Marvin. Genius.
I loved the TV series done in the late 1970's - it was so tacky and low budget!

Yay! I'm so glad that someone who read the books liked it, and I'm very happy Zaphod is appropriately appendaged. I want to go see it now... I wish I had time this weekend.
