I was just reading about this. Shame that Holloway's murder still remains an open case. Authorities have practically lost track of the number of different stories Van der Sloot has told over the years. Everything from dropping her off at her hotel to selling her into white slavery. His numerous inconsistent stories to the police and press should have been enough to haul him in for obstruction of justice at the very least.

But it's a not a white girl who was killed!
This was a few days shy of the 5 year anniversary of Natalee's disappearance.

"But it's a not a white girl who was killed!"
Not THIS time, but she'll tie everything together with a nice white ribbon!
I guess the one consolation is if Van der Sloot is convicted for the murder of the girl in Peru, the Holloway family may get some sense of justice, no matter how small. I can only hope that if he's caught, tried and convicted with a life sentence without the possibility of parole, maybe he'll reveal the truth about Holloway. Long shot, I'm sure.
The curious thing about the Holloway case is that every time Van der Sloot opens his mouth, he makes himself appear more guilty, yet his involvement still cannot be proven. The absence of a body and the lack of forensic evidence have kept him a free man.
Didn't he already 'confess' to killing Natalie to an undercover reporter in the back of a cab?
Yes, Diva. Apparently he did. This whole thing just makes me sick. They need to string this guy up by his balls.
He's been apprehended in Chile.

I was just coming here to post that. Thank God!
Van der Sloot confessed that he saw Holloway convulse from a drug/alcohol overdose and die in the video, not that he killed her. He claims to have attempted to revive her and then panicked, calling a friend for help and his friend offers the idea to dispose of the body. But as with all of Van der Sloop's stories, it conflicts with the accounts and testimonies of everyone questioned and the details didn't match any of the evidence. For example, the implicated "friend" was living in Rotterdam at the time of the murder. Later the same year, Van der Sloot claimed to have sold Holloway into white slavery with the assistance of his father and others. In a phone interview during which the father reveals his knowledge of his son's activities, it was later determined the voice of the father was actually Joran trying to disguise his own voice and speaking for himself and his father.
When the majority of the collected evidence has been the wildly conflicting statements of Van der Sloot himself, it has been rather impossible to pin him down. There has been nothing the prosecutors have been able to firmly grip to definitively prove anything.
Well hopefully they will be able to definitively pin him to this one.

Like someone said, at the very least, obstruction!
And now Van der Sloot is suing Chile, Peru and the father if murder victim, Stephany Flores.
