Just got home from Ravinia.
I had not seen "Sunday in the Park With George" since it's original Broadway run. Beautiful music. Not sure I loved the staging and not sure Audra was right for the part (voice wise). I love her anyway and she is very beautiful in person. I saw her in the hall backstage when I went back to meet Patti. Patti was real nice and talkative. Very kindly signed my program and was glad to hear that I had seen her in EVITA, ANYTHING GOES, MASTER CLASS and SWEENEY at Avery Fischer Hall. Cerveris was good as George. I hadn't know before that his sister is the former NYCB dancer Merissa Cerveris.

Unfortunately I don't know KMF_NYC. re: Home from Ravinia

I didn't even know I was going to attend until I was given tickets today at work.

Wow! Someone is coming from NYC to see this?
That is an honor. :)
Ravinia was beautiful last night and Patti LuPone felt that the performance was good. The night before had been an open dress rehearsal.
I know that Mr. Sondheim is there for a pre-performance talk today and I assume he was there last night though I did not see him.

Let's hope the Sondheim trend at Ravinia continues next year. I always love a trip to the windy city....

It is my understanding that Ravinia has a five year commitment to presenting Sondheim, next year being the last. I've always been on tour in the summer and have missed every other production at Ravinia. re: Home from Ravinia

I've actually very much enjoyed Chicago Shakespeare's Sondheim productions a lot. :)

You go Chicago!!!! DC is also a good place to get a Sondheim fix - the Signature theater here always has something in its lineup. I got my issue of the Sonheim Review and it has a list of all of the performances of Sondheim shows and the list is impressive. I don't know if the productions will be impressive, but that isn't the point- more people are being exposed. That's the key. Exposed to Sondheim, that is.

Yes, I think we are also the only two cities who had BOUNCE.

Woot, I'm going today and im so excited. Unfortunatly I will be sitting in the lawn and not in the pavillion, but hopefully i will be able to stand along by the pavillion and watch it that way. Was there a big turnout last night?

Just realized the director Lonnie Price also recently directed the New York Philharmonic CANDIDE with Kristin Chenoweth. I was not able to see it. Was it good?
