I resist most "real whatevers of whatever" but this was too enticing. And it did not disappoint. This pool of aging slackers is especially vivid.
Favorite moments:
...the big hunk ex-baseball player who had to sit in on his wife's skin care business, as each of the red-faced and humiliated pubescent girls was queried about the impact of their menstrual cycle on their acne.
...the ex-con (best friends with Ryan O'Neill!) debating with his hardworking little woman as to whether to let her parents know he spent 8 years in jail (after learning that the child he must care for was a 'total accident')
...the ex-med student-turned-actor setting up a "man cave" (still sounds like a gay porno term) in his garage, with a refrigerated beer dispenser, and cardboard boxes for the man bottoms to squat on. Suddenly -- gee, unscripted (ha) -- the door goes up and another little hardworking woman comes home and invades the cave like a huntress. "Bring me and beer..." says she.
If you have shunned this genre, perhaps you'll make an exception for this one. And I love the network "Fox Reality" -- an oxymoron)
