Semi-awesome. He's really terrific in DEAD RINGERS, I agree, one of the most grievously overlooked performances ever. I still think his Oscar for that von Bulow movie is a pretty naked consolation prize.
I'm not as taken with his work since then, though. Post-Oscar he seems to have gotten rather stiff and fake, I think, relying more on that VOICE than on anything else.
