Posted: 8/24/04 at 12:21pmFirst of all, it has to be a real bagel, not the soft, pathetic things they sell in the grocery store freezer. I like mine poppy seed, slightly toasted, with cream cheese and possibly smoked salmon or pickled herring.

i worked at manhattan bagel for 2 years... i'm a pro at making bagel sandwiches 
as sick as i should be of them, gimme a toasted plain with a thick layer of cream cheese :P

yumm bagels...i like mine with either a Onion, sesamee seed, or bacon chedder bagel, with plain cream cheese and slices of smoke samon. 
my favorite bagel place in nyc is Time Square bagel (i think that's what its called) its right next to Carmine's.

I met her years ago when she was doing an off broadway show called "Sally and Marsha"...everyone left the theatre but me. I had her all to myself when she came out. She was so gracious. Even sent me an autographed picture about a month later. Ahhhhhhhh."
AHHHH! You're soooo lucky! I would give anything to meet her, such a huge fan! I never knew she did "Sally and Marsha"---- never even heard of it. verryyyyyyyyyyy lucky!!!!

BWB87..it was only a 2 woman show. The other actress was an unknown to me at the time..Christine Baranski(sp?). Not a musical. They were both tremendous. I sent Ms. Peters a rose with a letter and as soon as she came up from her dressing room she came right up to me and gave me a kiss on the cheek and said "Thank You"..I will never forget that evening. Better than any bagel.

Posted: 8/26/04 at 4:35pmI am an ex New Yorker living in CT. You can only get good bagels in NY. I like a toasted everything with nova lox, red onion, veggie cream cheese and tomato. Sometimes I will substitute white fish salad for the nova. I visit California and trhey have the worst bagels that I have ever tasted. It is basically a flavored hockey puck with a hole in it. The flavors they come up with are unreal . How about chipotle, jalapeno, tandoori or mango? How can you put lox on a bagel that is flavored with tandoori spices or mango?
