This requires math and abbreviation skills. It comes down to this:
We need PA and OH, but we can give up FL.
If we actually get FL, the whole thing is ours.
We think we have PA and all the NE pretty easily, and probably MN as well.
We need IA or NM or WI to seal the deal, and all are in play.
If we get CO (which is surprisingly in play) then we also win.
Go to the LA Times and play with their electoral map. It's really cool and you can switch electoral votes around easily.
well if the Red Soxs win the series or if the Redskins lose on sunday to the Packers then Kerry will win.
Kerry cannot get Ohio, so it seems.
i voted absentee in pa for kerry. hope that helps.
This is reassuring. I'm going to a big Kerry meetup tonight in North Jersey, and the buzz everyone is spreading is: popular vote, popular vote -- the feeling everywhere is, the popular vote may be in landslide figures. Blue states will be darker blue than ever before, and even in red states, blue voters will turn out in droves. My gut feeling is: that's the story on election night and beyond -- the record long lines at booths, and the Democratic votes that they predict. As for the electoral college, let's all keep our fingers crossed.
But though I don't presume to guess the outcome of the election, I feel sure that there can be no popular vote 'mandate' for G. W. Bush. The A.B.B.backlash has not abated in recent weeks, and for many, W's debate performances and the spin afterward poured gasoline on the fire. No one offended by this regime 6 months or a year ago feels LESS so now--and they will NOT stay home on Tuesday.
And how dare the administration try to scare us yesterday with a stupid attempt at an October surprise! This ought to be grounds for impeachment:

Ross and other ABC staffers say they believe that a Bush administration official leaked the story to Internet gossip Matt Drudge as a way of pressuring the network into airing the tape, which would heighten concerns about terrorism in the final week of the president's reelection campaign. They note that whoever gave the information to Drudge had a transcript of the tape.

I'm really concerned about Florida. In Broward County, thousands of voters have still not received their absentee ballots!
Lost Ballots Attract Attention From Florida Law Enforcement
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is looking into how the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office gets absentee ballots to postal distribution centers after nearly 58,000 such ballots were unaccounted for.

There have also been numerous celebrities using their fame to get voters out and to support Kerry. A few days ago, they showed Larry David walking on Miami Beach with Orthodox Jews- I believe they said he was part of a bus tour to get Kerry the Jewish vote.
In sum, we're hopeful, but concerned. At least he got the four votes from us!
