Cardboard. I wish I had a better recollection of the content of the paper. I recall that O'Connor's concurrence in Casey was a focus.
The idea of not allowing abortions is so stupid to me.
My favorite arguement (you know, from a high school class) is "Well..if someone gets pregnant at 16 or something, they need to carry out the responsibility. They need to face the consequences and have that child."
A 12 year old gets raped. She is pregnant. You want her to carry out that child? Not only that, we're going to tell the 16 year old what to do with her body? I don't care if people make mistakes, if they don't want to carry a baby for 9 months, and then either put it up for adoption or KEEP the child, then they shouldn't have to.
Personally, I could never having an abortion myself, but it might be because I am obsessed with the idea of having babies when I'm older. At the same time, I am supportive of other women having abortions. Also, I have never been in a position where I would need an abortion. So I don't know. I say I would never have an abortion, but who knows what might happen?
Hell, not even dramatic stories: My own mummy (yep, got her permission before posting) had an abortion when I was 2. I was 2, my sister was 3, my brother was 5. She had her hands full. She was very happily married, financially she was fine. She just could not handle another child. Big deal.
And about this jail time. The people who are against abortions, they feel it is because the "child" aka almost not quite fetus is being murdered? Deprived of life or whatever? So they would send the mothers away for life? They would treat my having an abortion the same way they would treat my shooting a guy in the face?
It's all bull**** if you ask me.
And about this whole telling teenagers what to do and not get abortions because they need to deal with their "mistake". I'm not gonna lie, we teenagers are not the brightest. We do not always think before we act, we panic easily. My friend's school is surprised that all of these girls in their school are being found at the bottom of the stairs with enough alcohol in their system to serve Russia. What do they think? Trust me, I've heard it even in health class, some kids even in my own school think that that is ok. Because they're dumb. But they would rather get an abortion.
Oh but wait. Abortions are a hell of a lot money.
And the people who wait outside the clinics with their ridiculous ways of protest? The signs they have, the figurines and dolls they have? It's not using your right to free speech - it's disgusting.
There I said it.
Feels good, I haven't been able to lecture anyone since school let out in June.

I love this line and am working it into my repertoire immediately:
My favorite argument (you know, from a high school class)!
Gracias!
Sorry, but as of now that's all I really have to go off of.
