According to the inside flap of this newly published book, "For decades [Bill] Press argues, conservative preachers such as Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, and James Dobson--joined by most Catholic bishops--have defined religion so narrowly that Democrats and liberals have been pushed outside the fold. According to their narrow gospel, God put George Bush in the White House to deal with gays, guns, and abortion--and those who don't agree are on the sure road to hell...Bill Press says it's time to take religion back...[Press' new book is a] fervent new call to Democrats and liberals to reclaim religion and return it to its basic principles of social justice, charity, and tolerance...the Right didn't just steal religion, the Left let them have it...But on today's social issues religious concervatives have gotten it all wrong..."
I heard Mr. Press speak this evening and was impressed. I'm anxious to read his newly published book.
Mr. Press is a political commentator and one-time seminarian, and co-anchor of CNN's Crossfire.

Bill Press is a great guy. He's very eloquent on the lies that Republicans tell: lies like "the media is biased toward the left" or "Republicans are more moral than Democrats."
He's smart, he's funny and he's eloquent. If Fox News had him as Sean Hannity's foil instead of Alan Colmes, the progressive side would win every show.
I read an early version of this book and I hope a lot of people read it so we can take back Christmas in addition to taking back the Congress and the White House.
