I was up for a huge promotion. For the first time in my career, I felt extremely qualified and was very optimistic. Today, I got the crushing news. No go. If I were in NYC, I'd definitely be going to see a show. My husband is out of town tonight and I have the 12 year old, If not, I'd be going to see the Great American Trailer Park Musical at the local theatre. Anyway - what's a girl to do?

How do I deal with disappointment? Easy. I blame Hilary.
I'm sorry tourist. That does suck. I say stalk and humiliate the boss, then burn down the office.

The person to ask about this is Mr Roxy's lovely wife. Ask her about her honeymoon and she'll tell you exacrly what disappointment is!

I just got rejected from my second school out off five ,so I know how you feel, and I'm sorry.
I locked myself in my room for a little bit.
It didn't help.
So, I can't really tell you how to deal. Sorry.
tourist, I can relate.....just realize there are other companies out there who will value you. And also maybe realize that you are not defined by what a boss or a company think of you.....
took me awhiel to get that.

My advice- look for another job. You've got your resume updated, it can't hurt to see how another company would value you. You might find a great new opportunity.
Good ice cream, good chocolate, an updated resume, and at least three job-search websites on your "favorites" list.
An anarchic-comedy DVD doesn't hurt in the short term either.
Sorry to hear you didn't get the promotion. When I'm disappointed with anything, I put on any cast recording with music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, the cure for all ills.
I can relate, I've been dealing with huge amounts of disappointment lately with not getting into my first choice college, not getting into the school musical, not getting the school leadership position I wanted, and the list goes on. I deal with it by talking it through with friends and by listening to uplifting music. The latter is the best. I've told people that lately, my anthem is Kate Voegele's "It's Only Life".
