How many Disney movies have you seen? — Page 3

"How have I gotten to this age not realizing that MIDNIGHT MADNESS (one of my most very favorite movies) was a Disney movie!!??? I want a ride based on it!"

It was a huge flop--though they had huge hopes for it. Part of that uncomfortable era for Disney where they realized that their 1960s light comedies were no longer what teens wanted to see so tried to do slightly more "mature" films that usually were derivative of others (ie Black Hole.) I remember one exec said how depressed the studio was that films like Black Stallion and later ET that should have been Disney films, weren't. (Of course some good films came from this troubled era -- I love Something Wicked This Way Comes.)

I'd love to see the average Rotten Tomato or Meta Critic score for these. The best are among the best movies ever, but the majority are really B movies or outright duds.

Absolutely. To be fair, manyof the comedies churned out in the 60s and 70s were basically marketed to be just that in a way (of course some of these became massive hits.) Something I assume the Disney Channel original movies now fulfill, though I'm a bit too old to have seen most of them.
