If anyone would like to read two set reports of Hugh Jackman's new movie "The Fountain", go here. Some spoilers but really interesting stuff and the guy did speak to Hugh in the first one. No release date yet but speculation is by the end of the year.

>“What made you (director Darren Aronofsky) choose Hugh for the film?”
”Eric (Watson, the producer) and I went to see him in THE BOY FROM OZ, actually.” Just in case you missed that, it was the Broadway musical about flamboyant Australian singer/dancer Peter Allen. The show was, by most accounts, a showcase for Jackman’s song and dance skills. Remember, musical theater is a big part of his background. Even though THE FOUNTAIN is about as far from being a musical as possible, seeing such a different Jackman from his film work made a lasting impression on Aronofsky.<<<
There's another one here with the director:

>But I went to see The Boy From Oz [on Broadway] and even though the role was so much different from what we're doing here, almost the complete opposite in fact, but the amount of talent that he displayed onstage was just overwhelming and I was like, “This guy is great.” Then I met him and he was really an amazing guy and I could just see that it was the right time for both us because he needed a role that could show a lot of dimension. He gets to play three different time periods and three different characters. When Hugh joined the film we met every week for a couple of hours and worked on it. So I think that it evolved somewhat and I kept rewriting it.
I just needed someone who could give that commitment. This film would not be possible without Hugh because technically and emotionally he's just so good. It's just hard to believe how good he is. If you ask any person on this crew what they think of Hugh Jackman they'll admit that they've never seen anything like it. I'll give him an emotional note and he'll hit it every time. He'll physically be there and then emotionally he'll be there. It's just remarkable and a great pleasure.<<<

Ah...weeks of waiting and yesterday two set reports come out. My cup runneth over. :P Now, if they'd just had a photo or two (especially of the...um...flowers or trees), I'd be the world's happiest fangirl.
And seriously, better this stuff than the English tab that called Romola Garai's role in Good a "Nazi seductress." Are you kidding me?

Here's some pictures - obviously, the "present" and "past" scenarios.

And brace yourself for this one - it's not a scene from the movie, but a picture of Hugh on the set with apparently his "future" look. The article is in French, but the rough translation is that the pool location was used to simulate weightlessness.

There was also a NY Times article on the movie about two weeks ago:

Yes, that's the one re Pitt and Blanchett - they were originally attached and right before filming Pitt bailed back in 2002. I think it was put off once before that because of Blanchett's pregnancy. Aronofsky mentions Pitt in one of the articles and what happened with that. He's been trying to get this movie made for quite a number of years. This movie now stars Hugh and Rachel Weisz (from "The Mummy" movies and "Constantine" from last month, among other things).
And no, it has absolutely nothing to do with "The Fountainhead." It's an original screenplay.
