OK......I get it now. Since we never have humidity here, and it's been so long since I've lived anywhere that does, I don't really get it when you all complain about humidity and tell me our heat "is a dry heat".
I get it today......we are at 88 with a dew point of 73 degrees and 62% humidity, UNHEARD OF for here......I just took the garbage out, and thought I was I was in soup.....I can't see the San Jacinto Mountains, because we appear to have a thick layer of fog, but we don't get fog here.........while we are only expected to get to 107 today, the humidity is expected to be in the 70's........ARRGH.......

Posted: 7/20/05 at 10:04amONLY expected to get to 107? ONLY? That's like saying I ONLY have to have major surgery.

Posted: 7/20/05 at 10:17amIt's a lot less oppressive today in NYC than it was yesterday. It says a lot when you can't wait to get onto the subway b/c it has A/C.

Posted: 7/20/05 at 10:19amThe city has been sweltering lately. Today, I'm just going to camp out in my air-conditioned apartment.

Posted: 7/20/05 at 10:21amIt says even more when you've been on the subway for 10 minutes and you're STILL sweating.

Posted: 7/20/05 at 10:29amOh the joys of riding the subway on a sweltering day. The urine wafting through the air. The rats on the grimy tracks. Crowds of people pushing to get onto the train. Bacteria-infested subway poles. Delays, delays, delays.

I went on two job interviews yesterday and for the first time in my life didn't wear makeup to them - figured it was better than showing up with a melted face from the subway platform. Was offered both. I guess I've been giving makeup too much credit all these years...

Congrats, Rath. Are you accepting either offer?
I have an interview tomorrow. Seems like everyone I know is going through a job transition.
And now back to the humidity...

Posted: 7/20/05 at 10:38amI accepted one. The other one doesn't start till the end of August, so I accepted it on the basis that I won't have something else yet at that point. We'll see what happens.
