Hypothetical Living Situation

Say you have a house for four people to lease, but they allow a fifth person to live there without being on the lease. That person pays rent to the others who pay the landlord. Do people do this often? Can it raise much trouble?

re: Hypothetical Living Situation

It happens quite often. As for the trouble it depends on what the lease says and how much of a stink the landlord wants to raise, if he/she finds out.

re: Hypothetical Living Situation

This does happen, but it depends on what you mean by trouble. My mother is a real estate agent and I know that having more than a set amount of people can upset fire regulations and/or suspicion about certain activity happening in said place.
