The other night, I had the pleasure of seeing Jason McCoy live in concert. I don't know how many country music fans there are around here, but I'll bet there are a few!
He played quite a few of his well-known songs, and a few that I had never heard before. When his band took a break, he stayed on stage with his guitar and performed Sweet Caroline, which he said he heard at the first concert his mom and aunt ever took him to. His next solo song was Rocket Girl, which he co-wrote (a big hit for Canadian country group Doc Walker). Then his guitar player (who is 1/3 of the Roadhammers) came back, and they performed I'm a Roadhammer. The guitarist left, and his fiddler came out to perform Thank God I'm a Country Boy. And of course, the entire audience sang along.
My favourite songs of the night were Kinda Like It's Love, and Born Again in Dixieland. I was with two friends who don't really like country music, but they absolutely LOVED Jason McCoy. I found that all of his songs were a lot more rock sounding than on his recordings, which I definitely enjoyed! I'm on such a kick right now, and I've been listening to his music ever since Sunday night!
