I Need A List of Stock Characters From Musical Comedy..

I posted my request for the playscript of Anything Goes in haste because I realized that it wasn't the only musical comedy to have used stock characters.

But basically I'm writing a bit of a musical homage (well...it's that among other things...) and I need a list of stock characters because I'm having some difficulty fashioning the plotlines and developing the characters. I'm not aiming at all for realism. I'm aiming for extreme surrealism.

But anyway, what other stock characters are there? I have The Hero, The Ingenue, The Foppish Cad, and a Moonface-esque comic relief dude. What others are there? Updated On: 8/24/05 at 03:31 PM

Well, if you're talking old-fashioned musical comedies, you can put in "ethnic" as a subtype of the "comic relief" category. Ali Hakim is a prime example.
