I admit I have a problem. I have been a member of BWW since the begining of August and keep seeing the name POTO. After several months racking my brain, it finally dawned on me this morning that it stood for Phantom Of The Opera. You see, I was born and raised in NY and have a deep love for the theater. Have the three decades that I have lived elsewhere finally taken its toll on my mind? Am I losing my edge that all native New Yorkers have? Will I start liking frozen grocery store bagels instead of fresh ones? Will I start to root for other teams instead of the Yankees? I shudder to think of what the future holds for me if I don't get some help. Are there any support groups out there?

I recommend a few hours a day of therapeutic cast recording listening sessions. That's always useful for taking the edge off your theater withdrawal symptoms. :)

Yenta, don't worry. It took me about 2 months to realise that LSOH stood for Little Shop of Horrors.

You think that's scary, try being a newbie on Compulsive Bowlers were all the Rentheads refer to Rent songs by their initials.

T4U, LMC, GL, ICY, ICY:R, YSB, WYO, SOL, AD...

THAT'S scary.

Yenta, maybe this will help you understand some BWW's lingo:

TWHM= The World's Happiest Musical (HELLO DOLLY!

TWGM= The World's Gayest Musical (LA CAGE)

TSMrW= The Sensuous Mr. Wilson (Patrick Wilson)

TAMrMcC= The Adorable Mr. McCormack (Eric McCormack)

Cheno= Kristen Chenowith

Any others that I missed?

You haven't lost a THING regarding your knowledge or love of theatre. What you're lacking in is 'internet speak' - a hitherto unknown form of communication that is being promulgated by impatient and lazy computer users.

What I find that works is simply asking what anything means that you don't understand - and then flipping them off for their presumption.

I tend to shorten the names of songs from Chicago the same way....

ATJ -- All That Jazz
CBT -- Cell Block Tango
MOBF -- My Own Best Friend
WYGTM -- When You're Good to Mama
WBRFTG -- We Both Reached for the Gun
MAMB -- Me and My Baby
HHR -- Hot Honey Rag
FH -- Funny Honey

When I was on the Les Mis message board we never wrote out song titles it was always abbreviated...

ALFOR- a little fall of rain
ODM- one day more
OMO- on my own
DWM- drink with me
COAC- castle on a cloud
MOTH- master of the house
DYHTPS- do you hear the people sing

...and so on

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

I, for one, am completely against the use of abbreviations on websites - it gets so confusing. It takes just as long to type out the full phrase or word sometimes as it does to type the abbreviated version. I think people get lazier and lazier every day on this planet.

"I don't really get the ending,all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang,and later she kissed him on the toilet,after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung,and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen,and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady?Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

This is a true story that happened to me when I was being admitted to a hospital. The nurse was taking a health history on me and was asking about the health of my parents. When we got to my father there was a long list of diseases. I told him that my father had shortness of breath, heart disease, diabtes..........the list went on. I look at my chart as the nurse was writing and this is what I saw........FATHER: SOB. {Shortness of breath. }
