Coming from someone is has never been Catholic and is not even religious, I am ready to hear other stories on the news that do not involve The Vatican.
I am sorry.
It sounds so rude of us, but MOVE ON!
You're entitled to your opinion.
But some "good" news beats anything in the second post (which I hope was sarcastic)
Well, I have to admit, I find it interesting if a high bit overly drawn out.
I say more exposes on the secret life of Endora!

ck - I'm CERTAIN that Beav was being sarcastic.
Hi Eric! Did you know I am doing the Full Monty at Gallery? I saw John Charles Kelly at Birdland last night.
I'm just excited to witness history in the making.
It's this obsession with 24/7 coverage of important news. Why do they have to saturate the media. Yes, it's important. Make the announcement that there was white smoke, show the square, and the move on until some real news happens. We seem to do that with everything... tragedies (9/11, Columbine, Princess Di) to scandalous (OJ, Peterson). More balance is what we need so we don't OD.
edit... thanks Rose...
7/11?
That is what I am talking about. They seem intent to make news when there is not any new news yet.
I have to agree, stop showing the doors and saying I wonder who the Pope will be. Just cut back when something actually happens.
Now we can look forward to a week of hearing about everything this new Pope has ever done in his entire life.
So, put a CD or DVD on.

sherman--you are such a party poper!!
Listen--would it be too much trouble if the cable news channels actually covered ALL the news and not just one item a day? I mean, they do have 24 HOURS to fill. It doesn't matter what the topic is--they need to cover more of the world events.
It's either scandal, the Pope, or White House propaganda! Sheesh!

Aah, you took my point, jrb.
There's a whole wide world out there, with many events of significance occurring in it every day. The selection of a new Pope is important, yes, but it isn't the only thing happening. And anyone who's watched a story unfold on a 24-hour news channel knows that they don't mind repeating and repeating and repeating the same information on a story over and over.
Look at all the non-Pope things that are happening now- Bolton's confirmation hearings, DeLay slamming Justice Kennedy, Ameritrade losing a ton of people's personal data, an obelisk looted by Italy returning to Ethiopia, Adolfo Scilingo being convicted of war crimes, an earthquake in Japan...
I find all of those things at least as interesting as the papal conclave. But that's just me.
Maybe the solution is to branch out in your news sources. I know for a fact that the headline on www.commondreams.org is NOT pope-related.
We'll talkin' TV cable, hun :)
TWENTY-FOUR HOURS, I TELL YOU!
Which is the exact reason I suggested branching out. There's an awful lot of news you miss by being anchored to cable TV.
