I did one of those TV auditions like AI#0

almost 2 yrs ago I went to one of these big calls, they were going to 4 cities and seeing about 1000 in each city. I was one of 3 finalists in my city. I was praised, and "gonna go to Hollywood". There were to be 10 finalists total going to Hollywood. They filmed us constantly (all the little human interest stuff) for 2 days. I was put thru to each next round very quickly - I was treated like I was the next big thing. And when they filmed them announcing the winners - they kept refilming it cuz they wanted us jumping up and down and crying, and really everyone was pretty professional who was auditioning, - crying over getting another callback isn't normal.
I had to sign mountains of contracts about "going to Hollywood"
I even had dinner at the hotel that night w/ the producers, who made comments like "the other 2 women were just filler, we couldn't JUST have only you as a finalist from this city" Now I was at the first city, so I know they were gonna see many more people, but then the funny thing is the other 2 "filler" women were flown out to LA and Well waddayaknow, I got a call saying they had changed their minds and I WASN'T going to Hollywood. Only 7 finalists ended up flying out - they got 3 more from an LA Agency (and filmed a "fake" audition as if those 3 had stood in line etc to fill out the 10 slots.) Plenty of people were pissed off at this becuz everyone was told you HAD to stand in line and go thru the cattle call system, even tho most everyone DID have an agent, then they turn around and change the rules after the cattle calls were done.
The other 2 finalists who were going placated me w/ "well everyone in the country will see how good you were on the audition show - you'll get alot of positive exposure from that" My voice is also used in the commercials as a "voice over" comment.
Well the audition show airs a few mos later and GUESS WHAT? I am completely edited out of the show. They show the really bad people, and the ones who "almost" make it, and of course the winners. It was as if I hadn't existed. They were very careful to have not one image of me in the show.
2 of the agency "ringers" were eliminated the first week of audience call in, but the 3rd is the one who ultimately won.
So don't take these AI audition shows seriously. A lot of decent contenders don't make it on the air.

What show was it for? And that does suck, I'm sorry you had to go through all that.
Don't give up, though; if you really are talented, you'll find a way to make it!

the show will remain nameless. It was both singing and acting - we had to sing w/ a band and do dialogue screen tests w/ another actor. The "prize" was to star in a new sitcom.
Only the pilot ended up being filmed and it was shelved. I heard bad things.

Well, don't bring AI into this.
Maybe they decided you don't have the look...
