How many of us men have fallen in "love" with another guy due to an absent father...

or could it be that you want there to be something deeper? There was no inclination as to what you're implying... i despair sometimes i really do! Are you someone who thinks the star wars robots are gay too despite them incapable of human emotion due to the fact they're machines?

Not sure if the discussion about gay subtext in Rebel was serious or just playful bantering (kind of hard to tell the tone of that exchange), but in case it was serious...

In the book "Conversations With My Elders," Sal Mineo actually refers to Plato as "the first gay teenager in films." I don't think Justice is reading too much into it...it's about as blatant as it can be for a Hollywood film made in the mid-fifties (and Plato being gay does nothing to negate the whole "father figure" interpretation...both readings of the character are completely valid).
