I am looking for ideas for something to give to my very bestest (yes, bestest is a word) friend for the holidays, something that is nice and not impersonal. I was thinking maybe I would make a CD, but not sure. Anyone have any good suggestions?

My closest friends and I usually end up giving each other really silly gifts, but they're always things that everyone really ends up loving. A lot of times we'll play off of something really great that's happened to us in the past year, and make a really unique gift out of it, rather then something extravagantly expensive or whatever. Like, a few years ago, when TM Cara and I were first discovering Patrick Wilson, I went to Build-a-Bear and dressed a bear up like a cowboy and named him Patrick. Think about why this person is important to you, and let that guide you. re: Ideas for a friend

Aww, Emcee, you made me cry. Which I'm not saying is a big surprise, b/c I cry about everything, but your post was so sweet.

awww! I'm just a sentimental idiot... but I hope that kind of helps.

ETA - another example of quirky gifts... a few of my friends and I just did a secret santa thing, and my friend who had be bought a lot of really random, funny stuff and pasted Adam Pascal's face on it all. He knew how much that would make me smile, and it did! re: Ideas for a friend

my friends and i are doing secret santa too. pretty much everyone knows who everyone has (and we still have 2 weeks until we exchange, haha). but i heard from everyone that i'm getting a complete gag present, and they just know because of the person i have. re: Ideas for a friend

i already got my present for my secret santa, but i didn't think about it beforehand. just go to the mall or some random store and walk around. something will catch your eye that will be perfect.

If there are others who are looking for ideas, you could make a picture frame with stuff on it that is important to your friendship and then put a cute picture in it. I would do this, except that I already did it for this friend's birthday about 2 months ago...

My Fair Lady, I just tried your idea of a painting and confirmed what I already knew- I have NO talent when it comes to visual art. Alas, any more ideas???

definitely give your friend a "mixed tape" to give them a clue ...
