Posted: 12/12/04 at 2:41pmI am looking for ideas for something to give to my very bestest (yes, bestest is a word) friend for the holidays, something that is nice and not impersonal. I was thinking maybe I would make a CD, but not sure. Anyone have any good suggestions?

My closest friends and I usually end up giving each other really silly gifts, but they're always things that everyone really ends up loving. A lot of times we'll play off of something really great that's happened to us in the past year, and make a really unique gift out of it, rather then something extravagantly expensive or whatever. Like, a few years ago, when TM Cara and I were first discovering Patrick Wilson, I went to Build-a-Bear and dressed a bear up like a cowboy and named him Patrick. Think about why this person is important to you, and let that guide you.

awww! I'm just a sentimental idiot... but I hope that kind of helps.
ETA - another example of quirky gifts... a few of my friends and I just did a secret santa thing, and my friend who had be bought a lot of really random, funny stuff and pasted Adam Pascal's face on it all. He knew how much that would make me smile, and it did!

my friends and i are doing secret santa too. pretty much everyone knows who everyone has (and we still have 2 weeks until we exchange, haha). but i heard from everyone that i'm getting a complete gag present, and they just know because of the person i have.
i already got my present for my secret santa, but i didn't think about it beforehand. just go to the mall or some random store and walk around. something will catch your eye that will be perfect.

Posted: 12/12/04 at 6:11pmIf there are others who are looking for ideas, you could make a picture frame with stuff on it that is important to your friendship and then put a cute picture in it. I would do this, except that I already did it for this friend's birthday about 2 months ago...
