The opening ceremonies of the 2006 Winter Olympics will be held tomorrow night. My cousin Doug is the mass choreographer for the opening and closing ceremonies and I've always loved his work. I may question it sometimes (he loves those funky people walking on stilts), but ultimately I love both him and his creative vision. This was a hard assigment as his mom was diagnosed with cancer the week before he was to leave for Turin (16 months ago) and he has really racked up the frequent flyer miles trying to pull things together and be in LA for her.
Hope you enjoy the show!

Very cool for him, and my sincerest hopes for a speedy recovery for his mom.
Congrats Moony to your cousin! I'm certainly watching the opening (and closing) ceremonies.
And adding my hopes to Kringas' for speedy recovery for his mom.

Thanks, Elph, cookie & Kringas. This will be a bittersweet ceremony for her. The cancer has spread rapidly and this will likely be his last show that she will see.

I sincerely hope that's not the case, Moonie. May she find it wonderful and glorious!
That's so difficult, moony. She must be so proud! It's wonderful she got to see her son do so well.
You can brag all you want!

The Opening Ceremony has always been an exciting event.
I hope the protestors don't continue to ruin the event.

Moony - that's something else - good for him! And he has a good name
I hope his mother is as free from pain as possible, and gets to see the remarkable success of her son - that's quite a gift she gets to have.

Geez, Goth, sounds like the protesters could use a good choreographer. Doug's great at move thousands of people around.
DG - unfortunately for you, Doug insists on being "Doug", never "Douglas". The man has no taste.

BlueMoon, that is amazing. You should be proud of your cousin, which, apparently you are!
I hope his mom is doing as well as can be hoped, and that this is not the last show of his she sees.

Moonie that's great! I love the winter olympics because opening ceremonies always coincide with my birthday! I will definately be in front of the tube.
wow how neat is that!! I'll be watching for sure now.
Bluemoon, I don't have anything to add, but I echo everything that's already been said. Bump!
Moony! As those on the Adult thread will tell you, I am a HUGE fan of the Olympics (I can't stop talking about it!), and I adore the opening ceremonies!
Now I'm going to love it even more! That is so exciting.
I'm sorry about the bittersweet aspect of the story. I hope this brings your entire family much joy and pride and happiness!
Thank you for sharing that with us!
I have to set TIvo being I have a wedding tomorrow. Moonie...you have such a talented family.

That is such a big job! How amazing. Congratulations to him and a speedy recovery to his mother.
I was in the opening ceremonies of the Paralympics when they were in Atlanta. It was pretty cool. I even got to be one of the very few people on stage.
I'm sure the opening ceremonies will lift her spirits even higher than doctors and medicine. Nothing makes a mother feel better than a good does of "kvelling."*
*If you don't know what kvelling is, Undi or Yenta will translate.
I'm so excited to watch. Now I can say to my family while I'm watching, "Hey this girl on BWW's brother did the choreography,"... well if its in any realtion to me lol. Best of Luck to him and you!
Your cousin has my highest admiration.
Watching will be even more special.
Cheers to you, your cousin and his mom.
