What Broadway roles do you think she would have taken on?

(No one does "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" better than her)

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

Karen had a beautiful, moving, one-of-a-kind voice, but her kind of singing doesn't lend itself well to Broadway...she didn't have that loud belty sound that you see on stage these days. But I would KILL to hear her sing "Not That Girl...."

She has the range for it. Especially for that low note.

Their Christmas albums would have been great seasonal shows on Broadway.

"Don't Cry Out Loud" seated in a wheelchair and hooked up to oxygen. She probably WOULD be pretty thin re: If Karen Carpenter were alive...

All kidding aside, I adore the Carpenters. She always makes me smile.

If she were alive and well, I would hope she would have moved beyond cheesy pop tunes. Hopefully show would have gotten into Rodgers & Hart, Gershwin, Cole Porter, etc.

Of course, Karen has sung Cole Porter, Gershwin and Rodgers and Hart; but I assume you mean complete albums.
