*** SPOILERS GALORE ***
I just got done reading this book (I know I'm a couple years late), and I really enjoyed it, but was anyone else a little thrown by the ending? I mean, she writes so beautifully and I really liked the character of Adam Ryan (I'm pissed he's not in the "sequel"), but I was a little peeved about the ending. French never explains what happens "in the woods." A lot of different things are hinted at, and a lot of it is explained, but then you're just left with a cliffhanger. Any word on if she's writing an actual sequel or will ever explain it? I'm reading "The Likeness" now, and I really like it, but I do miss the character of Adam Ryan. I just could connect with him better. Any speculations as to what you thought might have happened in the woods, and was anyone else expecting a sci-fi ending with all the hints of like "bird noises" or like animals mentioned?

I read this book when it first came out and HATED IT.
I don't remember most of it, but I remember being really pissed off that she never actually says what happened. I loved the way it started though.

I was like great a genuine friendship between a straight male and a straight female, and they don't have feelings for each other. Then they have sex and it ruins everything. How typical! Ugh!

I too was a little peeved by the ending. However, I did thoroughly enjoy the first half of the book and couldn't put it down!
I read "The Likeness" about two months or so ago. I much prefer it over "In the Woods". (SPOILERS..sort of...however, again, the ending could have been a little bit better, however it is, IMO, a better end than ITW)
I really do love the author's writing style. I am hoping she gets another book out soon, though. Despite the not-so as good as I want them to be endings, her first two are definitely among some of my favorite books I've read.
