Five Idaho inmates are blaming alcohol for the crimes that put them in prison and are suing some of the nation's top liquor and wine companies for $1 billion.
Inmates Sue
Because everyone who drinks commits a crime.
Jeremy Brown said in his affidavit. "At no time in my life, prior to me becoming an alcoholic, was I ever informed that alcohol was habit forming and addictive."
Yeah, the term "alcoholic" is so damn esoteric. You don't learn that stuff until college and then you're too wasted at keg parties to remember!
This reminds me of a time a few years back. People were constantly attempting to sue fast food companies claiming that the food in which they were eating made them obese. This was called the Personal Responsibility In Food Consumption Act (or more commonly known as The Cheeseburger Bill) which despite being brought to the senate floor twice, it was voted down. However, many courts still refused to hear such cases because they felt that those claims threw personal accountability out the window. And, people needed to realize themselves that if they were going to eat processed foods which were fatty and far from healthy, then they needed to take personal accountability and do something about it themselves rather then sue.
I wonder if alcohol will be viewed by the courts as a similar matter. After all, you can try to sue for whatever you want to. However, whether or not the courts will hear it is a different story altogether.
