I got 29 right. I can't figure out #5, 9, 13, 15, and 22.

I got 28 before I gave up. I wanted to smack myself on the 8 T on an O one. That was obvious after the fact.

my favorite is #12: 3 B M (S H T R)

but it's kind of culturally biased, because it seems like Europeans would know about rugby, cricket, and south africa than us ignorant Americans.

32 for me. For some reason, this kind of test isn't hard for me -- and I'm not a smart person at all.

I can't get 1000, though. years in a millenium isn't working.

touchme, I wasn't getting the 1000 answer for exactly the same reason you're not getting it. Then I got it. You are just missing one little thing.

I've got 25/33 now. The last one I got was #1 - and when I got that one I really felt like slapping myself. I can't believe I got #28 before I got #1 - so I hold that out to myself and others as a reason not to give up yet. The simplest answers may be the hardest ones. I am still being tortured - although tantalized - by the 8/O one, but PLEASE don't anybody tell that answer - I want the satisfaction of hearing myself scream when I get it - from what you're saying it sound like I will do just that.

Now my score is 26/33 - children&art, your comments made me run right back to one of them and solve it!

yessica, I can't get #31 either, but I did get #33. I could give you a clue, if you'd like, although the clue isn't guaranteed to work. Let me know if you'd like me to pm you.

The ones I can't get are 8, 10, 17, 20, 30, 31 and 24. I'm pretty sure, from some of the comments, that I've got a right word in a couple of them. I will not give up!!

KelRel, aiyeee! By the time I finish slapping myself, there won't be much intelligence left. #8 has been haunting me for some reason. It's not 18 hands on a gun crew or 18 hours on a German clock. And now you say I'll slap myself for it? Oh, this is a dangerous game.

KelRel, thanks! I want to see if I can get it on my own a little longer (for the full impact of the self-slapping) - and then I will be banging on your door.

For all of us who didn't get the whole 33, we ought to have a special get-together at some appropriate watering-hole. Then start reading off each answer. Everyone who got the answer takes a shot - everyone who didn't takes two. Whoever is left standing at the end of the night is the most intelligent.
