In the last 8 years, 4 of those years have had a best picture win by a film that did not win best director.

The youngest best actor winner of all time was Adrien Brody (who was days away from being 30).

Kevin O'Connell (a sound mixer) has been nominated for 18 awards. He has lost every time.

This is the first Best Picture winner since 1973's The Sting not to be nominated for a GG Best Picture.

Oh, that is interesting, too! Wow. It's taken 23 years for the Academy to get behind the times (or ahead of the times -- depending on what you believe about Crash).

Actually, I don't think that Ghandi was nominated for best picture at the Golden Globes in 1982 and it won best picture.
