My high school is doing "Into the Woods" this year for musical. I want to try out for the Baker's Wife and the Witch. I was wondering if anyone could toss up a couple ideas for an audition song for me, please? I'm a soprano 2 but can also sing alto 1. Any help would be appreciated so much. Thanks guys!
im assuming you cant use a song from the show? i did into the woods this past spring and i was the witch. my director has us do songs from the show so i sang the lil red into the woods prologue AND last midnight (she asked me to) but hmm.. if not id do something that shows off your voice but the prob. is the witch and the bakers wife are so different that one song might not be able to show off both characters. "im not afraid of anything" is a good song.. hmm, im not helping, am i?
I'm actually auditioning for Woods in 2 weeks.. I also need help. We can't sing from the show.. I am a belter. I want to audition for Red and have no idea what to sing.
Unworthy of Your Love from Assassins
Lovely and That'll Show Him from Funny Thing Happened....
If you wanna show you can sing complex rhythms, them maybe one of Mrs. Lovett's songs from Sweeney Todd
Hope these help. They're the first ones to come to mind.
this might be a popular one but HERE I AM from dirty rotten scoundrels is a fun belty one that would probably be good for red..
Could I Leave you from Follies is very similar to Last Midnight from Into the Woods

I'm hesitantly suggesting "Home" from "Beauty and the Beast," because while Little Red sits right in that range, Little Red also doesn't sing anything near a ballad (except for about two seconds of "No One is Alone")...so accept this advice with caution. Sing it at your own risk.

I'd go with Rose's Turn from Gypsy. Just becuase it's good for showing off your voice and Rose and the Witch are similar characters.
