Although I differ with others re going into Iraq, I agree it is time to leave. It is getting really ugly there & the Iraqis can not or wont assume the heavy lifting. There is a civil war there & before the Shiite hits the fan, it is time to go. We did our best & tried but nothing is to be gained by staying

The insurgency was underestimated & is getting stronger. It cannot get worse if we leave & maybe it might improve

The soldiers did their best

The game plan was from hunger as after the initial invasion was over it went downhill from there. After that, we should have left

You are right, and we need to do our part to make sure the guilty parties in our government are held accountable for these horrific atrocities. I have not met one person who doesn't "support our troops." Yet the second anyone criticizes this invasion that is all we hear about.

The mismangement of it is the criminal part. Did they really think it was going to be a walk in the park. It will really get bad if & when Sadaam is sentenced. After that, watch out

Roxy, instead of posting messages about the Iraq conflict here, why don't you login at the White House's website and send an e-mail to our beloved President?

As long as we are dependent on Mideast oil, it cannot happen

If Saudi Arabia goes down, gas prices will go thru the roof

Withdrawal from reality is not the answer. You cannot retreat to the US & make believe the rest of the world does not exist

Truer words were never spoken cturtle. We have enough problems here. Look at our energy crisis and our poverty.

Whenever we try & do it, someone is against it

Nuke Power - Forget it
Wind Power - OK until you try & put windmills up & it spoils
someones view
Burning Trash - People are against it
Coal - No good even though we can burn it cleanly
Oil Shale - People are against it

See what I mean

obviously, some people need to look beyond their pissy little problem with their "view" and on to the bigger picture, those self absorbed sonsuvbitches.

not to mention we haven't even approached the ocean...

It's all the oil and automobile lobbyists. If we made immediate feasible changes like raising fuel efficiency in cars to 40 miles a gallon and eliminated special deals for SUVs we would save ten times as much oil as the Artic National Wildlife Refuge will likely produce.

This isn't rocket science. Even really truly recycling plastics would be a start. Instead we kill half a million people. I just hope everyone is paying attention now as we gear up to invade Iran. It's gonna happen unless we educate ourselves. Our government is out of control.

It's no shocker here to read that Republican posters are quietly admitting these errors to one another. How could they not, and have an ounce of insight (or empathy for the parents of dead soldiers), Look at today -- 11 dead, and 70 total in October, a month not yet over.

The administration knows it has to pull troops and knows when it must do so (after elections) and knows the minute it happens, the backlash will begin. One of the main reasons we've lingered and faced this spiked carnage was spelled out in a 2005 Bush speech -- to justify the deaths of those who're gone and maimed (9,500 plus are deemed "seriously wounded." Limbs gone, eyes missing, brains split open.) The dead will have died in vain, no matter how it is spun with patriotic fervor, and it's a stain on this country that will not go away quickly.

What's most obscene is the use of jingoistic jargon like "getting the job done." As our Iraqis die by the hundreds and our soldiers are picked off one by one, the "job" is a sick euphemism for plan-less inertia and sustained impotence. It's deeply offensive, and every American should stand up and shout it down. Of course, the dead are someone else's children, who are so easy to ignore.

With this carnage, smacking a yellow magnet on the car is one of the least patriotic acts imaginable.

We did NOT belong there in the first place. It was all based on lies and has now turned into another Viet Nam. Shame on Bush.

I would like to see our troops out as well. I'm definitely in favor of a time table.

And I agree, we shouldn't even be there. All we heard in the beginning was talk about WMDs and ties to Al Qaeda. We haven't found either.

This whole "nation building" thing is so ridiculous it makes me want to scream. The fact that we're doing this only proves to me that those making the decisions in the government have no idea what they're doing. Iraq cannot be made into a democracy. The political culture there would not allow it to work. Not to say there is zero chance of it ever becoming a democracy, but that change would be excruciatingly slow and too costly in terms of lives and dollars.
