Oh it's ridiculously stupid. But that's not always a bad thing.
Matty-cold water on a washcloth. That should help. My poor lips are so sore, I bite them all the time. But when I burn them I go straight for the cool water. It helps.

a seagull who want's to fly, so he gets outcast from the flock. Then he rambles on in voiceover for an hour about meta-physics (and I think he meets god, but I'm not sure) while Neil Diamond sings in the background.

er...no. He wasn't a lesbian at all.
The book was quite famous (I never read it) but this movie was just weird. And somnolant too. I drifted off more than once.
