We can only do so much to help. They've got to take responsibility, and want to change, and all that.
My stepdad's an alcoholic, and he tried to quit for a while, but now he's back at his old habits. I still care for him, but I've stopped trying to help.

Posted: 12/16/07 at 4:24pmMy dad was an alcoholic - I didn't even know he was an alcoholic until not long before he died at age 67 of, ahem, liver cancer. Looking back, I realize there were signs when I was very little. However, I didn't live in his house from the time I was eight, so of course I was pretty removed from the situation. We see what we want to see anyway.

I was in a relationship with an alcoholic. Six+ years. I don't recommend it. Just for anyone who might be considering it around here. A little PSA for ya all.

Ivan's company had an Xmas party a few weeks ago. By the end of it, I was downing straight up vodka. And I paid for it on Saturday.

He has been running a fever all morning and we gave him children's tylenol but it just kept going up. It felt like being next to an oven. I felt so bad for him. They left about 2 hours ago so hopefully everything is okay.
