Good morning, Avs.
'mornin', Deety.
Hey, Foster! How's it going?
Just a random, unimportant question, but does a playwright really have a say in the set design?
And good morning, ever'body!
It's going well. How about yourself?
I'd say you should ask on the main board, but people may get snappy over there.
*shreads pink shirt*
The main board's scary.
*hugs harris*
You'll find someone, and if you don't you'll probably be happier anyway.
Austin, yes, playwrights do have say in the set design. At least, from what I know, which may not be sufficient support, heh.
I just do not find Zac Effron attractive at all. Does that make me a bad person?
It makes you an awful person!
No. It just means you have bad tastes.
I know playwrights have the final say in every part of the production, but how realistic is it for a company to let one do that? Does my question make sense?
I think I have some good ideas for the play I'm working on. I don't want to be one of those bitchy queens no one wants to work with.
Jus put it in the actual script.
Maybe it means everyone else has bad taste and I have GOOD taste. Did we ever consider THAT, huh?
I think your best bet for sound advice on playwriting, Austin, is to write to an actual playwright.
They usually take it as a compliment to hear from aspiring playwrights.
Do you know any?
(How do I do that funny eyes rolling around in their sockets face?)
I don't know any, but I'm sure if you dig around online, you could find contact info for some of them.
Think David Lindsay-Abaire, Tracy Letts, Doug Wright for modern playwrights.
If you want to get really serious, you could contact Edward Albee or Terrence McNally.
Yes, Austin, you do have a say in the design of the show. You also have casting approval, director approval, etc...
Chris promised to take me to see Sweeney again this afternoon, lets see if he lives up to his word! :)
I passed out last night. Kind of sad that it was from exhaustion and not as a consequence of a drunken stupor.
"Yes, Austin, you do have a say in the design of the show. You also have casting approval, director approval, etc..."
I'm so not controlling enough for that.
Ivan and I passed out too, but it was around 9ish. I've been up since 4.
Have a lovely day everyone!
Off to work for a bit..
Two things:
Approval doesn't mean control.
A good playwright lets the professionals do their jobs they are hired to do without too much interference.
I'm outta here. Later!
Bye, Deet!
After last night's accident, Ivan decided to take today off, which means it's "Play all day with Shia" day!
I love My Cousin Vinny. Love It.
I haven't seen it in a very long time.
You seriously took the words right out of my mouth, Stagey. marisa Tomei MAKES that movie. She's also fabulous in OSCAR with Stallone. That movie's a little goofy, but it's so fabulously done.
How're you feeling today, Stagey?
EDIT: Though I always forget Tomei's best line in VINNY, when she's standing on the porch ranting at Joe Pesci...stomping her foot..."My biological clock is TICKING...LIKE...THIS!" I laugh out loud every time.
