Posted: 6/29/08 at 3:24am"Philip Seymour Hoffman and I" is grammatically correct. Tell him, Deet.

"Philip Seymour Hoffman and I went for a walk together" is grammatically correct. "This is a photograph of Philip Seymour Hoffman and I" is not.
Or am I wrong? It's late, but I didn't think it was that late.

I think you're both wrong, and should be punnished. Report to me.
OR, you could just call it a 'wash' and let greater minds prevail.

Posted: 6/29/08 at 3:31amIn that case you would be correct, scott, but he didn't say that. He said, "My favorite actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman and I." He was addressing himself.

SM2 - do you see where people might choose my response over yours?
Just asking.
#969re: Is That you In Your Avatar? - Swinging 20
Posted: 6/29/08 at 3:35amCorrect me if I'm wrong, but if you were to write "Avatar: My favorite actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman and I!" as a sentence, would it not read, "My avatar is of Philip Seymour Hoffman and I [or rather, me]"?

No, scott, 'cause you always address yourself as "I." For example, "It is I in the picture," though it's become non-standard to say, "It is me in the picture" instead.
DG, what's wrong with my approach?
