Flowery, everything that happens in Alanis's song is ****ty coincidence, not really irony.
BUT the irony could lie in that it's IRONIC because we know it's not IRONY.

How's THIS for irony.
Opening night for Kiss Me Kate last night. There were roses in my dressing room......from the man who plays Fred......to the woman who plays Lilli. MY roses were in Lilli's dressing room, the deliverer mixed it up (PURELY unintentional!). I should have thought before I switched them back- how AMAZING would it have been if Lilli (who got there after me) opened up a card that ACTUALLY read "Let my lovely Lois shine through Bianca tonight and there will be a new star in the heavens!". Yes yes, I totally ruined the fun in my haste.
But THAT was ironic.
